Music To Help You Sleep

"Favorite Deep Sleep Lullabies" From SleepWave Laboratories

Many CDs come with warning labels, but not quite like this one: "!!!CAUTION!!! DO NOT PLAY WHILE OPERATING HEAVY MACHINERY. THIS PRODUCT HAS BEEN KNOWN TO CAUSE DEEP DROWSINESS." Hopefully, I will be safe here behind the computer, drinking a highly caffeinated cola. No steamrollers or bulldozers for me today, I'm afraid.

If first impresssions are any indication, this actually is some pretty sleepy music. The sound is soft and peaceful, with gentle tones and melodies. Some of the tunes will be quite familiar to you, like Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and Brahms Lullaby. The liner notes indicate that the music is scientifically designed to progressively lull the listener into deep sleep, getting softer track by track, so apparently by the end you are knocked out cold. The story behind the music concerns a father who created the sound process to help his sick baby daughter get to sleep, since other lullaby CDs didn't seem to do the trick.

Well, I'm halfway through track three, and I'm beginning to feel a little lethargic. I can't say for sure that it's the CD, but I think I'm going to go lay down. Good night, moon.
